Just going to post my

Chapter today. I'm not really in the mood for typing up about the life I don't really have tonight....

So here ya go. I'm not sure how I feel about it, actually, so I hope it's good enough for you guys!

Chapter 27

Sensing the rushing wind just in time, I spun around, a magician.
“Who’re you?” I questioned. She was a new face, they were always new faces, but they all knew me. It was always a thing of trying to remember them whilst they taunted me with stuff that I should have known already. Past experiences that I had no recollection of.
            “Warlock Jenna.”
            “What do you want?”
“I was ordered to come.” Well, that was an elaboration, wasn’t it? I still didn’t know what she wanted. It was quite the coincidence that we were to be attacked as we were looking at the place where I’d disappeared. Maybe they were still close to hear what was going on. Maybe Hayley and Jesse were a baby step away and I can’t see them. Maybe they’re watching me with hopeful eyes that I’ll remember that their down they’re waiting for me to save them.
Another thing that seemed to confuse me was the whole ‘warlock’, ‘mage’ thing. Were they ranked? Was I ranked?
“Maybe you can explain a few things to me.”
“What kind of things?” She asked hesitantly, relaxing her stance slightly.
“Where are my friends? That’s the first one.”
“I don’t know, I’m only here on his orders.”
            “Who’s he?”
“He? I’m not sure whether I’m allowed to tell you or not, but I’ll give you his name. Nicholas. Don’t be fooled. He’s a lot older than he looks.”
“And what’s this all about ‘warlock’, ‘mages’ and stuff. I don’t understand.”
“God, do you want to just stand around a chat all day or do you want to fight?”
“That’s the last thing. It’s not like I have anyone to ask.”
“Fine.” She sighed. There was another reason behind all this; I didn’t really want to fight. I was hoping that I was distracting her long enough to forget about attacking me. “So, a mage is the weakest form of a magician. A warlock like me is next up. Then Sorcerer and then the  Magician is at the top. We also have Enchanters who live outside the ranks. Their different to Magicians, they use their magic in different ways to us.”
“Oh, right. Did you know what I was?”
“I thought that was the last question.” Damn. I guess I hadn’t distracted her enough; she changed her stance quickly and leaped up at me.
Letting my other form bleed through my body, I blocked her punch that was aimed at my head, and kicked under her feet as she landed, causing her to fall to the floor. I moved back, putting a distance between us. From the floor, she jumped up and a spear appeared by her side. Grabbing it, she ran towards me with the sharp end pointing towards me.
Thinking on instinct, I summoned my sword in one hand and defended myself from her onslaught. A sharp, resonating sound jumped off the weapons as they clashed, slightly making my ears hurt. We continued in this stance for a while, with Jenna trying to push forward and me pushing back.
Suddenly, I pulled back, ducking as the spear went flying over my head, whilst in her moment of off balance; I used a trick I had just started to learn. I gathered a sphere of purple energy in my hand and blasted it at her. The blast created a stream of purple light that struck her dead on the chest, sending her flying back a few feet and coughing up blood.
I’d learned the trick in a fight a few days ago. I hadn’t really practiced it all that much because of it’s destructive power. Jamie hadn’t even seen me use it yet. Speaking of Jamie, I looked around and saw, thankfully, that she had left the area, I didn’t know where she was hiding, but at least she had enough sense to hide. Unlike some of the people that have stumbled across my fights, they just stand there and watch, which makes my job a lot harder because I don’t want them to get hurt, so I have to protect them in the process.
Breathing heavily, I looked back to my opponent that was slowly rising from where she’d landed. Her face pale and her hair covered in dirt.
“Well, that was a little surprising. You never were so strategic before.”
“Is that supposed to be a compliment?” I asked, dodging swiftly as she made a swipe at me with her spear.
“Let me show you Danny, something that you’ll never see fighting those pesky Mage’s.” She grinned like a cat and charged orange energy through her spear.
Suddenly, everything started to feel fuzzy; my head started to pound and my vision was blurry. My body felt like lead and I had no control over it.
“You’ll never escape this attack.” She laughed.
Vaguely in the back of my mind I could hear my sister screaming my name, but it was distant, unlike Jenna’s voice in front of me.
I had no time to react as she pounced again, my body unwilling to do, as I wanted it do. Her spear struck me. Scraping against the side of my body, creating a huge, deep gash. I would have cried out in pain if I’d had the change.
The onslaught continued, and I was forced to just stand there and take the thorough beating I was getting. My body felt as though it was getting torn to shreds, I could feel the blood gushing out of my body. This was definitely not good.
She was going to kill me, I could see it now.
I was going to die and there was nothing I could do about it.
What about Hayley and Jesse? Who was going to save them now? How were they supposed to get found? How were they supposed to be saved?
Suddenly the attacked stopped and my senses returned to me. I collapsed to the floor, blood pooling around me.
Jenna bent down; I flinched and closed my eyes, bracing myself for the killer blow.
The killer blow did not come. Instead a simple tap to the head, her two front fingers coolly tapping it. I felt a surge of energy, then nothing.
“What’d you do?” I questioned, opening my eyes.
“You’ll thank me when you remember.”
            “I don’t understand.”
“I don’t expect you to understand. Please, Danny, I never meant for this to happen. I needed the money. I hope you understand when you remember.” With that she left, not giving me a chance to reply to her. My head hurt, my body hurt. If I didn’t get help soon, I was going to die.

Jamie was standing over me, a worried look on her face.
            “What’s wrong?” I asked sluggishly.
“Sh, don’t talk. You need to rest.”

A man was standing over me. I didn’t know who he was.
            “Who’re you?” I asked.
            “It’s okay. You’re safe.”
“What happened?” I never found out. Everything went black again.

“Danny?” A female voice whispered.
            “Yeah?”
“Save us, Danny!” The voice shouted becoming more distant.
            “How? Where are you?”
            “Don’t you remember me, Danny?”
“I don’t know how to save you!” I shouted.
“Danny? Who’re you talking to?” I couldn’t see anything. It was all black.

“When do you think he’ll get better?” I heard Jamie’s voice say.
“It should be soon. The injuries he received were quite severe. He was attacked by a magician, you say?” A male voice I didn’t recognize answered.
“Yes, completely out of nowhere. Danny wanted to see the place where he was taken, and he was just attacked.”
“Do you think they wanted to take him again?”
“I don’t know.” It was a whisper that I barely heard. But I heard it.

I finally woke up to the more and more familiar white ceiling and an uncomfortable hospital bed.
“Oh, God, here? Again?” I wondered out loud.
“Danny!” I heard someone yell beside me. I looked around. Jamie.
“How long have I been out?” I asked hesitantly.
“A few days. Not too bad.” She remarked “You were talking to someone in your sleep.”
“Was I?” I seemed to remember talking to someone, her talking about me saving her. She seemed offended that I couldn’t remember her.
I was aching all over and the throbbing in my head only got worse the longer I was awake.
“The doctor said that you’ll be able to go home soon. You’ve spent most of your time healing whilst you were unconscious. He said that when you woke up you’ll probably be able to go home and back to school.”
“Oh, yeah, inspector Malcolm called by, he said that you’re trial date has come through. It’s next week sometime.”
“Okay.” I really didn’t want to go. It looked like the closer to the trial it got, the more bad stuff that kept happening to me. This was not going to look good to the Judge. I was doomed. Doomed to spend time in some youth offenders prison or something. I’d definitely die there.
“And mom rescheduled your appointment with your therapist. She said she’d give her a call when you woke up.”
            “Okay.”
“I’d better go and tell them that you’re awake.”
“Okay.” I really didn’t feel like talking to her. I didn’t really feel like talking to anyone. I laid back on the bed and tried to ignore the throbbing pain in my head and the ache in the rest of my body. It was going to be a long day for sure. It was going to be long days until I got back my friends. I needed to remember more about where my friends were being kept. I needed to find out more about the person who’d taken them. I remembered Jenna saying that his name was Nicholas, and she’d said that he wasn’t as young as he’d looked. Or seemed. I didn’t exactly remember what she’d said fully on that part of it.
“Don’t worry, guys, I’m coming for you. You won’t be there much longer.” I whispered determined. They couldn’t stay there any longer. I was going to find out where they were whether I had my memories back or not. I would not let them suffer any longer.

Night!
